The colours look different from my screen - is that a fault?
Usually not. Colour variation within normal commercial tolerance is not a fault, and printed colours will not exactly match what you see on a screen.
Why print and screen differ
Digital screens and print use different colour gamuts, so screen colours will not match printed colours.
Other things to expect:
- Between print runs. Two separate runs do not match exactly. Ink tolerances in four-colour printing mean slight variance is unavoidable.
- Pantone colours. Pantone spot colours cannot be reproduced exactly in the full-colour process.
- Proofs. Proofs are not colour accurate. They are issued for checking content only.
- Matching a sample. We are not required to guarantee an exact colour or texture match to any proof or existing copy you supply.
How we judge a colour dispute
Most of our presses are calibrated and tested to ISO 12647-2. Where those tolerances have been maintained, we will not uphold a dispute about colour.
If you think it is more than normal variation
Send photographs to support@printlogik.co.uk with your order number and we will tell you honestly whether it is a fault. See How do I report a problem with my order?.
