Who owns the artwork you design for me?
You do, once the work is complete and paid for in full. At that point copyright in the finished design passes to you. You can use it, reproduce it and change it as you wish, without asking us.
Before it is paid for
While we are working on a design, and until it is paid for in full, copyright stays with us. This covers logos, artwork and layouts.
What does not transfer
| What | What happens to it |
|---|---|
| Our own tools and templates | Working files, scripts, templates and production assets we use across several clients stay ours. You receive the finished design. |
| Third-party licensed material | Fonts, stock photos, illustrations and icons we license for your project stay under their owner’s licence. We pass on the benefit of that licence where it allows, and tell you where it does not. |
| Concepts you did not choose | Routes we presented that you turned down stay ours. |
If you need everything to be yours
If you need a design to be exclusively yours, including the underlying assets, tell us before we start. We will quote for it.
Material you supply
Anything you give us to work with - your logo, photos, text and fonts - has to be yours to use. When you send it, you are confirming that you own the rights or have permission.
Our imprint and our portfolio
- Printed work may carry a small Printlogik imprint. If you do not want one, ask us in writing.
- We may keep copies of work we produce and use them to promote our business. If you would prefer we did not, tell us and we will not.
