How do I set up a PVC banner with eyelets?
Eyelets are metal rings punched through the edge of a PVC banner so it can be tied or hooked into place. They sit near the edges, so the main rule is simple: keep text and logos well away from the edges.
Setting up the artwork
- Size: set the artwork to the finished banner size, plus bleed. Check the product page for the bleed it needs.
- Edges: leave a clear band all the way round, at least 30mm on a typical banner and more on large ones, with no text or logos in it. Backgrounds can run to the edge.
- Don’t draw the eyelets on. They are added in production. If you want them in specific places, say so when you order.
- Resolution: see What resolution do I need for banners, posters and boards?
Hems
Some banners have the edges folded over and welded (a hem) to make them stronger. A hem takes up a little of the banner’s edge, which is another reason to keep content away from it.
Putting it up
- Use cable ties or bungee cords through every eyelet, so the strain is shared.
- Pull the banner taut, so it doesn’t flap and tear in wind.
- For windy, exposed spots, ask us before you order.
You choose the hem and eyelet options on the product page.
