Which binding should I choose for my booklet?
We offer all three bindings: saddle stitched, perfect bound and wiro (spiral). The right one depends mainly on how many pages you have and how the booklet will be used.
| Binding | What it is | Suits | Bear in mind |
|---|---|---|---|
| Saddle stitched | Folded sheets stapled through the spine | Brochures, programmes, menus, thinner booklets | Pages must go up in fours |
| Perfect bound | Pages glued into a wrap-around cover with a square spine | Thicker catalogues, reports, books | Doesn’t open fully flat; needs a spine in the cover artwork |
| Wiro (spiral) | Holes punched along one edge and a wire coil through them | Manuals, workbooks, recipe books, anything used open | Content needs to stay clear of the holes |
How to choose
- Thin and great value: saddle stitched.
- Thick and smart, with a printable spine: perfect bound.
- Needs to lie flat or fold back on itself: wiro.
The page counts each binding can take are shown on the product page, because they depend on the paper weight.
